The Sunday Hot Rod Carnivale
9am – 10pm (Entrant access from 8am)

Please note this show is only open to vehicles 1970 or older. If you have a cool Kustom Kulture inspired vehicle that is younger than the official cut off date, please feel free to apply for an exemption with a photo of your vehicle.

Note: No motor cycles will be admitted to the grounds unless they have pre entered and pre paid with management, no patches, no colours, no bad attitudes, no excuses.

Showground rules, not ours No Dogs (sorry)

Sunday is the day of the festival that just about has it all, thousands of punters converge on the Tamborine Showground to enjoy hundreds of 1970 or older rods, customs, stockers, beaters and vintage caravans. Combine these cool rides with two all day stages featuring rockabilly, Alt country and jump blues bands, kustom kulture art exhibition, lots of green grass with no dusty conditions and lots of shady trees, families are welcome to bring picnic blankets and chill out and take in the sights and sounds of the day, take time and browse through the vintage market vendors who peddle an awesome selection of must have items from frocks to accessories for you ride.


The Friday Night Rockabilly Ball
6pm – Late

The opening night of GarterBelts & Gasoline is always popular and much anticipated, this is the night when locals welcome the visitors with a night of great music, huge dance floor, meals and a licensed bar. Punters are encouraged to dress to impress on the Friday night to get the mood rolling for the weekend ahead. Tickets are limited to the Friday night and there is no reserved seating.


The Saturday Night Meltdown
6 pm – Late

Have a berocca or two and head to the big showcase night of GarterBelts & Gasoline. The Saturday night meltdown is a melting pot of great people and some of the best live music you will see. The Vonda Youngman Centre will rock to not only great music but one of the countries premier traditional Pinup Contests where ten lovelies vie for the title of Miss GarterBelts & Gasoline and loads of amazing prizes on offer. Our pinup contest give the girls the chance to empower themselves, build self confidence, have a wonderful time and be unashamedly feminine Tickets are limited to the Saturday night and sometimes sell out, there is no reserved seating.


The GarterBelts & Gasoline Pinup Contest
(Saturday Night)

One of the most popular features of the show is the countries premier traditional Pinup Contest where ten lovelies vie for the title of Miss GarterBelts & Gasoline and loads of amazing prizes on offer. Our pinup contest gives the girls the chance to empower themselves, build self confidence, have a wonderful time and be unashamedly feminine.


The Kustom Kulture Art Exhibition
10am – 3pm except Sunday

The GB&G art exhibition is held at the vintage hall at the Tamborine Showground, Main Western Rd. The exhibition opens on the Friday and runs through to Sunday night, the exhibition is open to Kustom Kulture art with influences drawn from hot rod culture, 1950s pop culture, B grade movies, monsters and all things cool. Visitors will be treated to some of the best paintings, carvings, tiki’s, metal sculptures, pin striping and obscure work from local, interstate and international Kustom Kulture artist’s. Live pinstriping demonstrations take place at each festival.


The Vintage Soap Box Derby
7am – Noon

Held on the corner of Curtis and Long Rds on the Saturday morning of the festival, the Vintage Soap Box Derby is possibly Australia’s only race of its type held on a public road. Open to juniors, teens and adults, racers spend a whole year designing and constructing their custom built contraptions for a morning a good old fashioned family fun and total gravity racing madness. This unique and exciting event attracts thousands of spectators as they witness up to fifty Soap Box Race cars take on the Curtis Roads 700 metre downhill coarse, there is always lots of thrills and the occasional spill as these masters of mayhem take on the mountain. After the racing wraps up around noon, head around to the Tamborine Showground on Main Western Road corner to for trophy presentations, great meals, a cold brew and two live bands.

Pre inspection of the cars is at 6am and racing from 8am, racers must pre enter to race, please contact the festival director via the contact page to do so.
